Port Canaveral will receive nearly $5 million from the Department of Homeland Security with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) funding for its new police department and purchase of a fireboat. Of the $54 million in Group 2 funds from the Port Security Grant Program, Port Canaveral received the largest single award and more than notable ports such as Jacksonville ($910,320), Port Everglades ($190,000), Savannah ($499,855) and Boston ($1,896,000) in the same category. Canaveral’s grant was second only to Group 1 recipients Long Beach ($7.8 million), Los Angeles ($6 million) and the Port of Oakland ($7.6 million). The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners established the police department in late 2008 as the culmination of a four-year initiative to enhance public safety at the world’s second-busiest cruise port. It is the first seaport police department in Florida. The grant fully will fund current plans for staffing, a public safety complex, and a new fireboat. Carnival Dream: A New Class of Fun

Wednesday, 10 June 2009 06:19 by jhalloran

clip_image002It's time to start living the dream with our most visionary ship yet.
Setting sail on September 21, 2009, Carnival Dream was designed to be the largest and most innovative floating resort in our "Fun Ship" fleet. Among many amazing features, Carnival Dream will boast more outdoor deck space, more stateroom categories, the largest spa we've ever built, a huge Carnival WaterWorks aqua park and a new indoor/outdoor cafe/entertainment complex called Ocean Plaza.
Carnival Dream will also feature the largest Serenity adults-only retreat in our fleet.  The two-level, 11,250-square-foot facility will offer seven different kinds of seating, as well as a bar on the lower level and two whirlpools on the upper level.
Carnival Dream will debut with a series of 12-day Mediterranean cruises followed by a trans-Atlantic crossing and two eight-day voyages from New York. Carnival Dream will reposition to Port Canaveral, Florida, for a special nine-day cruise then launch year-round seven-day Caribbean service December 12. Carnival Dream will certainly be in a class all her own!
With our construction photo galleries, news and email alerts, you can follow along and watch as Carnival Dream becomes a reality at www.carnival.com/dream.
